Haven’t gotten a chance to update the site much, or to take pictures around Kurume for that matter. It’s been a busy time preparing to leave Japan and move to Myanmar. Good thing I have some photos from my trip to Kyoto in March that I’ve been looking for an excuse to put up!
My favourite part of Kyoto, the Arashiyama area. All those postcard and travel brochure shots of a Kyoto bamboo forest is from here.

My wife and I had lunch at a temple that served buddhist monk style food. The meal was as far from the stereotypical Japanese foods of sushi and ramen as you can get. It was mostly vegetarian, using fresh, seasonal produce from Kyoto. Literal zen on a tray.

There are lots of artisanal crafts in Kyoto.

Ending the day in Gion.

Thanks for dropping by!
