I love photographing Yangon. The street life is as vibrant as the backdrop. When golden hour hits, it’s incredibly enchanting. Very appropriate for Burma, where tons of business names start with “Shwe”, meaning “gold”.

I just came back from Japan for my first visa run, and talking to friends who were curious about Burma, I always said that while everything seems old, it makes for really interesting pictures. The wall in the background is very typical of Yangon. Moldy, but great textures. This is also the only photo where the subjects aren’t wearing longyis, the traditional sarong-like garment worn by most people.
